Services

Color

Balayage, highlights, gray blending, all-over color and gloss, planned in visits.

Mihee does most of the color here, and Florine colors textured hair. Every color service starts with a consultation, so your stylist knows what has been on your hair before mixing anything.

  • Gray blending and root color

  • Gloss and toner between visits

What happens

How a color visit goes

  1. 01

    Step 1: Consultation

Your hair history, the shade you want and a plan for how to get there, in one visit or several. 20 to 30 minutes.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Mix and apply

Your stylist mixes your color and applies it in sections. 40 to 70 minutes.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Process

You wait while the color develops. Your stylist checks it as it goes. 30 to 45 minutes.

  4. 04

Step 4: Rinse, gloss and style

A rinse, a gloss if you chose one, and a blow-dry. 30 to 45 minutes.

Good to know

Before you book

  • What sets the price

Your hair's length and density, how much color goes on, the time it takes and the stylist's level set the price. You get a quote before color begins.

    How pricing works
  • What to bring

Photos of shades you like. Tell us everything that has been on your hair: box color, henna, a relaxer, a smoothing treatment. Honest answers keep the visit shorter.

  • Results vary

Color results vary with your starting shade and your hair's history. Some plans take more than one visit, and your stylist says so up front.

Who does it

Who colors here

Mihee does the most color. Florine colors textured hair, and both start with a consultation.

  • Mihee Arai, with silver hair and a rust-colored apron, standing with her arms folded in a brick-walled salon

    Mihee Arai

    Colorist

    • Cosmetologist license · TN License no. 000000

Mihee plans color in visits: balayage, gray blending, all-over color and gloss. She asks what has been on your hair before she mixes anything, and she plans a cut with your color when you want one.

  • Florine Gooden, in a cream linen smock and a rust-colored headwrap, with a hand on the back of her styling chair

    Florine Gooden

    Owner and senior stylist

    • Cosmetologist license · TN License no. 000000

Florine opened the collective and keeps the front desk running. She works on coily, curly and wavy hair: twists, braids, silk presses and color on textured hair. Booking her for color or braids starts with a consultation.

Questions about this service

Do I need a patch test?

Some color products call for one before your first visit, following the maker's directions. We tell you when you book. If you have ever reacted to a hair product, tell us first.

Can I book color online?

Yes, once you have had a consultation. New clients book the consultation first, and your stylist then books the color visit with you.

Can I go lighter in one visit?

It depends on your starting shade and what is on your hair already. Your stylist plans it with you at the consultation and says how many visits it may take.
