Four stylists, one room in Oak Ridge

Four stylists. One front door. Find your chair.

We are four independent stylists sharing one room on Rutgers Avenue. Tell us about your hair once and we'll point you to the stylist who suits your hair. All four of us are taking new clients.

Your first visit, in three steps

No one here will hurry you through the door. This is how a first visit goes.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Book your visit

Pick a stylist from the table below, or send the one form and we'll choose with you. Color and braids start with a consultation, and your stylist says so when you book.

  2. 02

    Step 2: When you arrive

Come ten minutes early to the front door on Rutgers Avenue. There is parking behind the building. Say who you're seeing and your stylist comes to find you.

  3. 03

    Step 3: What to expect

Your stylist asks about your hair history and what you want, then agrees a plan and a time with you before starting. The minutes sit beside every service on the menu.

Four stylists, three kinds of work

The four of us

Who you'll meet

Every stylist books their own chair. Choose one, or send the form and we'll choose with you.

  • Florine Gooden, in a cream linen smock and a rust-colored headwrap, with a hand on the back of her styling chair

    Florine Gooden

    Owner and senior stylist

    • Cosmetologist license · TN License no. 000000

Florine opened the collective and keeps the front desk running. She works on coily, curly and wavy hair: twists, braids, silk presses and color on textured hair. Booking her for color or braids starts with a consultation.

  • Consuela Melton, with a sleek bob and a navy shirt, holding a comb beside a row of styling chairs

    Consuela Melton

    Senior stylist

    • Cosmetologist license · TN License no. 000000

Consuela cuts bobs, layers and blunt lines, and presses and blow-dries hair smooth. If you want a shape that grows out well, she starts by looking at how your hair falls on its own.

  • Mihee Arai, with silver hair and a rust-colored apron, standing with her arms folded in a brick-walled salon

    Mihee Arai

    Colorist

    • Cosmetologist license · TN License no. 000000

Mihee plans color in visits: balayage, gray blending, all-over color and gloss. She asks what has been on your hair before she mixes anything, and she plans a cut with your color when you want one.

  • Giovanny Zubia, in a dark tee, smiling beside his chair in a bright room

    Giovanny Zubia

    Stylist

    • Cosmetologist license · TN License no. 000000

Giovanny does short cuts, tapers and clipper work, and dry cuts on curls. He is the newest chair in the room and has openings for new clients. He is glad to say when another stylist suits your hair better.

How the shop works

One room, four ways of working

We share a front desk, a wash area and a booking page. Everything else is each stylist's own.

That is why one of us can spend three hours on braids while another has a short cut done in forty-five minutes. It also means you may see different prices and days for different stylists. The booking page shows both before you choose.

  • Shared: the front desk, the wash area, the booking page and the policies

  • Each stylist's own: their prices, days and menu

  • One consultation form for the whole shop

Before you book

What new clients ask first

How do I choose a stylist?

Use the table above: it says what each of us does most. If you aren't sure, send the form and tell us about your hair. We'll say who we'd book you with, and why.

Do I need a consultation first?

For color, braids and any new look, yes: your stylist asks about your hair history and agrees a plan and a time with you before starting. For a trim or a short cut, you can book the service directly.

Whose prices and rules are these?

Each stylist sets their own prices, and the booking page shows them for the person and service you choose. The shop sets the booking, notice and patch-test rules for all four of us.

How long will a first visit take?

Longer than the service alone, because we talk first. Every service on the menu has its time beside it, and your stylist adds the consultation when you book.

Can I bring a friend or my children?

Children are welcome when they are having a service. For everyone else, one guest can wait with you, so the room stays calm for people in long appointments.

Tell us about your hair

Send this once and it reaches all four of us. Whoever suits your hair writes back, and you book from there.
